What Might Have Been

***Rush Limbaugh makes a very good point about the ridiculous congresswoman who chose to politicize and capitalize on a grieving widow's pain over the loss of her soldier husband.

She’s listening to the phone call that Trump makes to the widow. If she were acting responsibly —  she’s in the car with the widow of a hero military person killed in action — her sensitivity should have been aimed there. But that’s not where she was thinking. She was thinking, “How can I maximize whatever happens on this phone call to help me and to hurt Trump, and to help my party and to hurt Trump’s.” That’s the perspective she had listening to the call.

Exactly. Who's mind goes straight to that rather than trying to comfort this poor woman?

All that congresswoman would have had to say… She could have comforted that widow, but she chose not to. She chose to politicize it. They chose to use this as an opportunity to once again do her party’s bidding and go out and skewer Trump — and she did it at the expense of this widow’s heart and feelings, and has dragged this widow into this now. The widow’s on TV and in the media saying the same things the congresswoman said, just prolonging this and increasing the pain and prolonging the period of time of “closure,” as they say.

This whole thing just makes me sick. The Drive-By media is doing all they can to keep the story alive, too.

***So many believe the "rich don't pay their fair share of taxes" lie. Here is yet more proof that that is a blatant lie willingly propagated by the left, over and over until it has become so embedded in the psyches of gullible Americans that I'm not sure it can ever be extricated, which of course is the aim.

Of all the tall tales told about taxes, the tallest is that the rich don’t pay their fair share.

The Internal Revenue Service this month released its latest numbers and they show that not only do the rich, along with the middle-class, pay the most in income taxes, but their burden has been going up, not down.

Our tax system is unfair, at least if you measure fairness by the fact that a very small number of taxpayers carry almost all the income tax burden.
The top ten percent of earners, those making more than $138,000 in 2015, made 47 percent of the nation’s income, but they paid 71 percent of the nation’s income tax.  The top 1 percent, the people former President Obama decried the most, made 21 percent of the nation’s income in 2015, but they paid 39 percent of the nation’s income tax.
Not only are these people paying their fair share, they’re picking up other people’s shares as well.

The cold hard truth that nobody seems to know.

Sir Winston Churchill took three years getting through eighth grade because he had trouble learning English. It seems ironic that years later Oxford University asked him to address its commencement exercises.
He arrived with his usual props. A cigar, a cane and a top hat accompanied Churchill wherever he went. As Churchill approached the podium, the crowd rose in appreciative applause. With unmatched dignity, he settled the crowd and stood confident before his admirers. Removing the cigar and carefully placing the top hat on the podium, Churchill gazed at his waiting audience. Authority rang in Churchill’s voice as he shouted, “Never give up!”
Several seconds passed before he rose to his toes and repeated: “Never give up!” His words thundered in their ears. There was a deafening silence as Churchill reached for his hat and cigar, steadied himself with his cane and left the platform. His commencement address was finished.

Billy Graham was returning to Charlotte after a speaking engagement and when his plane arrived there was a limousine there to transport him to his home.

As he prepared to get into the limo, he stopped and spoke to the driver.

"You know" he said, "I am 87 years old and I have never driven a limousine. Would you mind if I drove it for a while?"

The driver said, "No problem. Have at it."

Billy gets into the driver's seat and they head off down the highway.

A short distance away sat a rookie State Trooper operating his first speed trap.

The long black limo went by him doing 70 in a 55 mph zone.

The trooper pulled out and easily caught the limo and he got out of his patrol car to begin the procedure.

The young trooper walked up to the driver's door and when the glass was rolled down, he was surprised to see who was driving. He immediately excused himself and went back to his car and called his supervisor.

He told the supervisor, "I know we are supposed to enforce the law...But I also know that important people are given certain courtesies. I need to know what I should do because I have stopped a very important person."

The supervisor asked, "Is it the Governor?"

The young trooper said, "No, he's more important than that."

The supervisor said, "Oh, so it's the President."

The young trooper said, "No, he's even more important than that."

The supervisor finally asked, "Well then, who is it?"

The young trooper said, "I think it's Jesus, because he's got Billy Graham for a chauffeur!"
