Long Time Comin'!

***I'm talking about spring, of course. At least it's sunny today here in Indiana. We have had a long winter and can't seem to crawl out of it.

***Well, we're still hard at work on our Halo business, well, the building I mean. We have decided to paint the walls after all - we were going to leave them as-is, but decided all that pale mint green was too monotonous, it looks like a warehouse. Just what we needed - another major project! Oh well, we're still hoping for an early May opening date!

***I have a conundrum in the upcoming election - Dick Hamm has been our state representative in this area, and according to his voting record has done a good job. He is being challenged in the primary by Dr. Brad Barrett, whom I transcribed for for many years and who also was my dad's surgeon when he had bowel problems. He is a great man and I believe would do a great job. However, it doesn't feel right to vote against Hamm when he has voted very conservatively in the past. How can we punish the incumbent when he has done what we sent him there to do?

***Be as Positive as a Pea -- nice hook, huh?

Peas are high on my list of the most satisfying plants to grow in the garden. And like with any plant, the story of a pea maps beautifully onto the notion of a life lived with positivity and purpose. This spring, as I tuck pea seeds into the cool, wet earth, I am reflecting on an amusing question—as we walk our positive paths, how can we be the pea?
Peas are one of the first seeds we get to plant in early spring—until they sprout leaves and flowers, pea plants can even handle a frost or two. They are hardy, unafraid to push forward, even when there are risks and challenges that come along with growth.
