Capitalism vs. Socialism

Image
***Saw this story on Facebook, pretty good analogy: A guy looked at my Corvette the other day and said I wonder how many people could have been fed for the money that sports car cost. I replied I am not sure, it fed a lot of families in Bowling Green, Kentucky who built it, it fed the people who make the tires, it fed the people who made the components that went into it, it fed the people in the copper mine who mined the copper for the wires, it fed people in Decatur IL. at Caterpillar who make the trucks that haul the copper ore. It fed the trucking people who hauled it from the plant to the dealer and fed the people working at the dealership and their families. BUT,... I have to admit, I guess I really don't know how many people it fed. That is the difference between capitalism and welfare mentality. When you buy something, you put money in people's pockets, and give them dignity for their skills. When you give someone something for nothing, you ro

Christian Olympians

Image
***This is a nice story on several Olympians who are unafraid to proclaim where their strength comes from. Along with other Winter Olympians, Uhlaender has had to deal not only with suspense over whether a Sochi medal might come to her after all but also the possibility that Olympians who flouted the rules will be in PyeongChang. Uhlaender is relying on her faith in God to see her through. “I’m a human being. There is a lot of emotion in just seeing something so unjust happen,” she says . “But to be a good human, to be a good Christian, I have to focus on what I can control and set the example.” *** A word of warning if you use the Chrome browser. It starts with a fake error message. For computer users, this is a vexing problem because the underlying malicious code locks up the browser. "The bug that it triggers is more than just an annoyance in the sense that it will render your Chrome browser unresponsive,” Jerome Segura, Lead Intelligence Analyst at Malwarebyte

The Genius of the Founders

Image
***It occurs to me that even though it's disheartening that Hillary Clinton and the Democrats used thoroughly dishonest tactics and had the media's help in trying to sway the outcome of a U.S. Election, the system our genius Founders set up worked, and the will of the people won anyway. The Left has been trying since the inauguration to overturn the results of a free and fair election but have failed at every turn, again due to the foresight and wisdom of the Founding Fathers. I am very grateful for that. ***This is a worthy cause: The Yellow Fund Ribbon helps wounded warriors and their families recover after tragedy.  A non-profit founded in 2005 called The Yellow Ribbon Fund is an organization that aids wounded warriors and ill service members recovering at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center at Fort Belvoir Community Hospital in Virginia. The organization offers lodging and transportation for family, events on-base and off to help handle the stress and anx

In a Nutshell

***Here's what was in the memo that the Democrats are saying is "no big deal." Now, we all know how much howling and feigned horror would be coming from the Democrats if the shoe were on the other foot. Their duplicity regarding this matter is astounding. It really shouldn't be given their behavior since Trump's inauguration, but you would think at least a couple of elected Democrats would be dismayed at their party's corruption. This is how our shameful "mainstream media" is covering it. No journalism here, just political hackery. *** Olive Garden now serving "Italian Nachos." Don't laugh, these look pretty good! They're calling them "Loaded Pasta Chips," but they look like nachos to me! *** The Democrats' bald-faced lies about the memo. Adam Schiff, Dianne Feinstein, Nancy Pelosi, among seemingly dozens of Democrats, not to mention half the mainstream media, had been warning us for days that th

Contrast

***Wow, what a crazy week. I know I whine about being busy a lot, but this week has taken the cake. I have wanted to blog about the State of the Union speech since President Trump gave it, but haven't been able to. I really shouldn't be taking the time now, but I'm gonna do it anyway. Could there have been a more obvious demonstration of the contrast between conservatives and liberals? Trump's speech was positive, uplifting, and reiterated his great love for America. The Democrats were sullen, angry, and childish. I understand them not standing and applauding for policies they disagree with such as keeping Guantantamo open and invoking our motto "In God We Trust." Republicans didn't stand and cheer when Obama talked about keeping abortion easily accessible and taking over America's health care system. However, when they wouldn't even stand and applaud a North Korean who who defected that awful country or a boy who took it upon himself to put wrea
