A Whole Lotta Nothin'

Image
***You could almost feel the disappointment in the press and on the "mainstream" news at the indictments yesterday. No mention of Trump, nothing connected with the campaign, pretty much nothing altogether. They were SO hoping to bring him down. Don't be fooled, though, they won't give up, no matter what it's doing to the country. There is a good rundown of the situation here. From my most recent NRO article, about Mueller’s first indictments, and what happens next: “Mueller must soon acknowledge that he has no evidence of Trump-Kremlin collusion and move on with his mandate to investigate the Russian attempt to influence the election in more promising areas (e.g., the Democrats; he might be doing this with the Podestas).” ***Happy Halloween! We're doing our usual...having Mark's family over for a simple meal and then handing out candy and enjoying the costumes. The little ones are so cute! *** *** William Shakespeare (1564-1616)    ...

An Obscene Outcome

Image
*** This really makes me sick . It’s time to pop the champagne, folks. The ACLU is declaring victory this morning, announcing that justice has prevailed for Jane Doe, an illegal-immigrant minor in U.S. custody who has received the abortion procedure she requested. This is what our most powerful public voices choose to celebrate – that a minor has finally been permitted to execute her innocent unborn child. But we’re being asked to do more than simply dance on this child’s grave. We are told to call it justice.  Abortion is the Left's holy grail. Nothing else means as much to them as preserving the right of a woman to kill her unborn child, no matter how old he/she is. That is barbaric and obscene, and how so many otherwise sensible, decent people can support candidates who support this awful act is beyond me. Look at what makes them happy. First of all, she's a minor. Secondly, she's illegal. No matter. The emphasis is that she won the right to kill her baby. T...

What Might Have Been

*** Rush Limbaugh makes a very good point about the ridiculous congresswoman who chose to politicize and capitalize on a grieving widow's pain over the loss of her soldier husband. She’s listening to the phone call that Trump makes to the widow. If she were acting responsibly —  she’s in the car with the widow of a hero military person killed in action — her sensitivity should have been aimed there. But that’s not where she was thinking. She was thinking, “How can I maximize whatever happens on this phone call to help me and to hurt Trump, and to help my party and to hurt Trump’s.” That’s the perspective she had listening to the call. Exactly. Who's mind goes straight to that rather than trying to comfort this poor woman? All that congresswoman would have had to say… She could have comforted that widow, but she chose not to. She chose to politicize it. They chose to use this as an opportunity to once again do her party’s bidding and go out and skewer Trump — a...

A True Patriot

Image
***This is a great story . This guy taught himself to play the trumpet so he could honor fallen military heroes. The commuters in Excelsior, Minnesota, are too busy rushing
to work to notice the lone figure climbing up to old Oak Hill Cemetery. He is a tanned, gray-haired man in khakis and a golf shirt, and he is walking deliberately. Gary Marquardt spots a grave with an American flag on it, raises his
trumpet, and plays. “I love to hear taps echo through the cemetery,” he says. “I’m doing something for these guys. It’s kind of like being among friends.” Gary will repeat the routine a dozen times over the next 45 minutes:
finding a veteran, saying his name, and then playing taps. “I always think about the funeral, the people standing around here, so sad at the loss of their loved one, and then it’s over and you’re left with this,” Gary says, looking down at a grave. Follow the link for the rest. *** Cute, affordable Halloween costume ideas . More...

No Excuses!

***If you think you "can't," check out this guy with Down Syndrome : John Cronin’s message is simple, “socks, socks and more socks”, but the 21-year-old entrepreneur with Down syndrome and founder of John’s Crazy Socks’ Opens a New Window. mission is much more powerful; smashing stereotypes of what people with a disability can achieve. “Down syndrome never holds me back,” John Cronin tells FOX Business. “I love inspiring people.” “I think there was an assumption on many that this was a quaint, little business, you were doing part time and on the side.  When they find out, in our first year, we are going to do $1.2 to $1.3 million dollars, that makes people sit up,” says Mark X. Cronin. “Which I would suggest is pretty good for a startup.” Love to see people with that kind of attitude, it's even better when they have a disability that they've overcome. ***I agree with Rush - Twitter is a sewer. Attacking Religious Liberty

Image
***If you've ever doubted that the Left deplores your religious liberty, you haven't been doing your research. Here's part of the plan : Conservatives are well aware of this shift in support for religious liberty, having seen recent attempts by states to pass analogous religious-freedom laws stalled or defeated. But there is a greater threat to religious liberty that, to date, has gone largely unnoticed: Liberal organizations are engaged in a concerted effort to strike down or limit religious accommodations by claiming that such laws violate the establishment clause of the Constitution. The establishment clause of the First Amendment provides that “Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion.” While historically the establishment clause was interpreted as merely preventing Congress from establishing a state religion, the Supreme Court has long since abandoned that approach. Instead, for over 45 years, the courts have applied the Lemo...

***It has been another brutal week! ***I wanted to put something upbeat and positive on my blog today, and found this story over at UpBeat about an incredible woman. She had a terrible automobile accident and eventually had both legs amputated. Her attitude, though, is amazing. It won't let me post an excerpt, but take the time to click on the link and read her story. It really is inspiring. *** *** My Creed Poet: Edgar A. Guest To live as gently as I can; To be, no matter where, a man; To take what comes of good or ill And cling to faith and honor still; To do my best, and let that stand The record of my brain and hand; And then, should failure come to me, Still work and hope for victory. To have no secret place wherein I stoop unseen to shame or sin; To be the same when I'm alone As when my every deed is known To live undaunted, unafraid Of any step that I have made; To be without pretense or sham Exactly what men think I am. To leave some simple mark behi...
