Heartbreaking

***There is nothing worse than knowing someone you love is lost. Not just lost, but actively mocking your faith. When I see something like that on Facebook, or anywhere else, it just kills me - I know what they're missing, and worse, I know the end result if there is no change of heart in their lives.

10 Who died for us, that, whether we wake or sleep, we should live together with him.

Such wonderful promises. It's hard to express the peace that comes from knowing that our salvation is secure, I wish I could make them see.

 ***Finishing what we start.
Have you ever read or listened to a Bible verse countless times and then one day you understand it like never before? That happened to me recently at church. It was part of the verse from Hebrews 12:2, “Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith...”
I write professionally, and I often teach aspiring authors at writing conferences. One of the things I’ve seen time and time again is that they want to write books, but they never finish them—so the line about Jesus being not only the author, but the finisher, really stuck out at me. Here’s the thing that really spoke to my soul: If God calls me to do something, and I don’t finish it, that task is either left undone or someone else will get the blessing of finishing it.

***I have to get this off my chest. I have avoided the myriad threads in Facebook about the tragedy that took place in Richmond last week as I didn't want to deal with the inevitable silliness that would follow my posting my opinion. The boy's mother is the one who called in the tip, and the police where there when he arrived. She no doubt saved several lives, the boy in question had two firearms and explosives in his possession. He obviously was planning to do a lot of harm. Since then, however, there has been an overabundance of weeping, wailing, and gnashing of teeth. Of course it's tragic and awful, you would have to be nuts to think otherwise. BUT, if the Dennis middle schoolers did not feel like victims before, they certainly do now. Counselors, days out of school, free T-shirts, free day at the local recreational complex, endless worrying about their feelings...not terrible things, but come on. Happy Frigid New Year!

***Wow, hasn't been this cold here in Indiana in several years. It was -14 yesterday, right now it's a balmy 2 degrees. I think it's supposed to get back to normal this weekend. I'm Baaack!

***Hi! I took about a year and a half off due to time constraints, etc. However, I found I really missed blogging my thoughts and opinions. Even if nobody reads them, I like writing them down. Took a while to find a name that nobody else had, finally had to include my name. This'll do! Now I have to relearn how to use all the gadgets in Blogger. ***Lots of places in the U.S. needing prayer right now - Houston, Montana, Oregon, Florida. Lots of bad stuff going on.
